MODERN ART AND THE GROTESQUE
BOOK DESIGN
This project is a (proposed commemorative) souvenir book for an exhibit of the same name. The book is separated into three chapters–a total of 206 pages–consisting of images, interviews, and essays of and about eight (revolutionary) Surrealist artists.
Surrealists believe absolutely in transcending our reality and entering the world of the surreal. This movement can be an expression of the human perspective on reality and truth; a mirror showing us our deepest dreams or psychologies.
This exhibition will display the works of notable Surrealist artists including Dali, Magritte, etc., all of whom use Surrealism to interpret the changing world. Surrealism abstracted the feelings around war and disease in the time of the artists. The drive to express these abstract concepts in media is a reflection of the human essence–the dream in the heart of eternity.
